Épilogue

Dans l'épisode précédent, l'hypothèse de Jules était confirmée par la copie de la fiche matricule d'Etienne.

Mais nous ne savions toujours pas quand et où Étienne était décédé.

La dernière date mentionnée sur la fiche matricule était 1936, date de la Commission de réforme de la Seine et de la réception de la Carte du Combattant d'Étienne.

Une autre mention utile pour la suite des recherches, l'adresse dans le 18e arrondissement.

Les actes et tables consultables sur le site des archives de Paris, permettent de rechercher jusqu'en 1974.

Jules pris donc son courage à deux mains et entrepris de parcourir les tables annuelles de décès du 18e arrondissement et non plus décennales à partir de 1936.

• 1936 : rien,
• 1937 : rien,
• 1938 : Jacques SAINT PAUL, acte n° 1276.

Jacques était l'autre prénom d'Étienne ; et s'il s'agissait de l'acte recherché ?

Petit problème : l'absence de date.

Jules devait donc encore tâtonner afin de trouver la date correspondant à l'acte n° 1276 de l'année 1938...

Juin 1938 était trop élevé, avril se rapprochait, mars fut le bon mois.

Jacques Étienne SAINT PAUL était décédé le 19 mars 1938, âgé de 45 ans.

Ainsi prend fin cette " enquête " qui a permis d'en apprendre un peu plus, sur ce caporal du 147e RI, capturé dans le mois qui suivit le début des hostilités.

Un membre de la famille SAINT PAUL ou de la famille LOISEAU lira peut-être ce récit : qu'il n'hésite pas à prendre contact afin que je puisse en informer la famille du Private John Brayshaw KAY.

Previously, Jules's hypothesis was confirmed by the copy of Etienne's registration card.

Jacques was Etienne's other name; And if it was the act sought?

Small problem : the missing date.

Jules still had to grop in order to find the date corresponding to Act No. 1276 of the year 1938 ...

June 1938 was too high, April was getting closer, March was the good month.

Jacques Étienne SAINT PAUL died on March 19th 1938, aged 45 years.

So ends this " investigation " which allowed to learn a little more, on this corporal of the 147th RI, captured in the month that followed the beginning of the hostilities.
